Eintracht Frankfurt secured their first win in the Bundesliga season against VfL Bochum on Saturday with a 2-0 victory. The match was played at the Allianz Arena and saw Eintracht Frankfurt score two goals in the second half.
The match started off with Eintracht Frankfurt dominating the play but failing to create any clear-cut chances. However, it wasn't long before the hosts struck first. A well-placed cross by Timo Werner set up the opening goal for Eintracht Frankfurt. Werner's header found the back of the net and gave his team the lead they needed.
In the second half, Eintracht Frankfurt continued to dominate the game and create more scoring opportunities. However, it was not until the 55th minute that they managed to double their lead. A free-kick taken by Julian Draxler was deflected into the path of Kevin Schwenig who slotted home the equalizer.
However, Eintracht Frankfurt's celebrations were short-lived as they were soon reduced to ten men after the referee showed a red card to Michael Maki for a foul on Benjamin Braithwaite. This brought down the pressure on Eintracht Frankfurt and allowed VfL Bochum to push forward and try to level the score.
But Eintracht Frankfurt held firm and scored their second goal in the 84th minute through a penalty kick awarded to Kevin Schwenig after he was fouled by Christian Gaudet. The goal was enough to secure Eintracht Frankfurt's first win of the season and also moved them away from the relegation zone.
The win was a much-needed boost for Eintracht Frankfurt, who have struggled so far this season. They will now look to build on this victory and continue their run of form in the upcoming matches.
