Bayer Leverkusen managed to secure a comfortable victory over VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, with the German side coming away from the match with all three points.
The match was a tense affair throughout, with both sides displaying excellent defensive performances and showing great composure in front of goal. However, it was Bayer Leverkusen who emerged victorious, securing their second win of the season.
The visitors took the lead early on through a fine strike from midfielder Kevin Volland, who capitalised on some poor defending from the Wolfsburg backline. The lead didn't last long though as Wolfsburg equalised shortly after through a well-taken goal from forward Robert Lewandowski.
However, Bayer Leverkusen responded quickly, with Volland again finding the net just before half-time to restore the visitors' lead. The German side continued to dominate possession in the second half, with Volland adding another goal to his tally just before the hour mark.
Despite being reduced to ten men for the final quarter of the match, Wolfsburg were unable to mount any real challenge for the win, with Bayer Leverkusen holding onto their advantage to secure all three points.
The win is a major boost for Bayer Leverkusen, who have now moved up to fourth place in the Bundesliga table. The team will be hoping to continue their impressive form into the latter stages of the season, while Wolfsburg will need to regroup and look towards improving their own performance levels if they want to avoid relegation.
